13 years of history in a single panorama

The upcoming event at the WWP is named “history”. As I’m a regular contributor I also wanted to contribute for this event.

After a discussion with a friend of mine I decided to realize an idea which took shape in my mind quite some time ago. I wanted to integrate a picture which shows a historic point in time in a panorama which shows the actual scenery.

Here is the panorama of the actual scenery.

And this is the historic image I wanted to integrate.

Heini Klopfer ski jump (at the base).

I recently visited the Heini Klopfer ski jump near Oberstdorf. The Heini Klopfer ski jump is currently the third largest ski jump in the world. It’s hillsize is 213 m and the jump record is at 225,5 m.

The panorama was taken with a pole which is approx. 3.15 meters high (~10 feet).

In the Breitachklamm (a canyon near Oberstdorf, Germany).

The german word Breitachklamm translates to “canyon of Breitach”. “Breitach” is the name of the river, which cut this canyon into the rocks. The canyon is located near Oberstdorf in southern Germany.

It’s a fascinating hike through the canyon which also leads over this bridge deep down in the canyon.

On the summer stage in Kronberg

I used a monopod extended to about 1,5 m (5 ft). I tried to take the images from the center of the stage in order to get a symmetrical image for the reprojection.
